General Psychotherapy Practice

My general practice focuses on the treatment of:

 I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of gender dysphoria and sexual dysfunctions.

Therapeutic Style

My therapeutic style is focused on the person and on addressing those negative thoughts and behaviors that may have a damaging impact in areas of our life. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy and Mindfulness are combined to help individuals heal and find balance in their lives.

I am also a polyamory-aware professional with a positive perspective on multiple relationships.

Gender Therapy

Gender Therapy makes reference to the specialized evaluation and psychotherapy services for individuals looking to explore and address gender dysphoria. During Gender Therapy the specialist can help facilitate an individual’s gender affirmation (“transition”).   

These services are available to adults, children, adolescents, and their families. 

Gender Therapy includes:

  • If needed, evaluation of gender dysphoria

  • Assistance to navigate the process of social, medical, and surgical affirmation for transgender and gender non-binary individuals 

  • Psychological and emotional support, guidance, and psychoeducation to help navigate the affirmation process with family, partner(s), employer, medical provider(s), health insurance, etc. 

  • Pre and post-surgical planning

  • Addressing ways to start a family, including reproduction and adoption (considering the dynamics of multi-racial and multi-cultural families)

  • Addressing transphobia and internalized transphobia

  • Addressing the needs of intersex individuals

Sexual orientation related services

Sensitive and empathic interventions with individuals dealing with issues around sexual orientation is one of my areas of specialty. Therapy focuses on acceptance of sexual orientation, coping with stigma, and development of a support system.

Sex Therapy

  • Sex therapy is available for any person in need and ready to receive help

    • Non-transgender individuals and their partner(s) 

    • Transgender and gender non-binary individuals and their partner(s)

  • Therapeutic interventions focus on helping individuals and couples address issues such as Erectile Disorder, Premature Ejaculation, Male Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder, Female Orgasmic Disorder, Female Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder, and Genito-Pelvic Pain/Penetration Disorder

  • Sex positive interventions focused on learning to explore and enjoy sexuality

  • Addressing sex addiction and its underlying issues

  • With transgender and gender non-binary individuals and their partners interventions focus on:

    • Enjoyment of sexuality and pleasure before and after gender affirming surgeries

    • The “Trans Positive Sex Therapy Model”, a model developed by me, based on my experience working with individuals struggling with gender dysphoria.  This model integrates therapeutic frameworks and a body positive and sex positive perspective to promote intimacy and sexual pleasure.
